Hydroxyzine HCl

Indications/Uses

Management of anxiety & tension in prep for dental procedures & acute emotional problems; anxiety associated w/ organic disturbances; pruritus due to allergic conditions (eg, chronic urticaria, atopic & contact dermatoses). Control of nausea & vomiting. Adjunct therapy in alcoholism & allergic conditions w/ strong emotional overlay (eg, asthma).

Dosage/Direction for Use

Adult 25-100 mg tds-qds. Childn >6 yr 50-100 mg daily in divided doses, <6 yr 30-50 mg daily in divided doses.

Special Precautions

Consider potentiating effect when concomitantly used w/ CNS depressants (eg, narcotics, non-narcotic analgesics, hypnotics, sedatives, psychotherapeutic agents, barbiturates or alcohol). Epileptic patients. Drowsiness may occur; may impair ability to drive or operate machinery. Lactation.
